Whether you’re an expat, an international student, or a Dutch local with a love for foreign theater: we’ve got great news for you! At MIMIK Theater, we offer performances that are also suited for non-Dutch speakers. Our program includes a variety of (dance) performances and plays in English, with or without subtitles, and even some without any spoken language at all. TAMTAM objektentheater | A Paper Life

Friday - January 24th
THEATRE - The Deventer-based group TAMTAM Objektentheater is celebrating 45 years of creativity, and what better way to mark the occasion than with a special premiere at MIMIK and extra performances at Theater Bouwkunde. Over the years, TAMTAM has created 41 productions and performed in 34 countries worldwide. Known for their performances using found objects, TAMTAM's latest creation, A Paper Life, takes a different approach. This time, the performers limit themselves to just one material: brown packing paper. The result is a wordless, poetic, and visual show.

Friday - February 7th
MUSIC - Still is a music performance in which film and theater composer Helge Slikker shares his most personal work. With a combination of cinematic, narrative music and quirky songs, he takes the audience on a journey through silence, reflection, and the reality of today’s world.

Millennium Jazz Orchestra

Sunday - February 9th 
MUSIC - The Millennium Jazz Orchestra, led by composer, arranger, and bandleader Joan Reinders, performs every two months at MIMIK with a surprising selection of standards and originals. The seventeen-piece band, made up of musicians from all over the Netherlands, is joined by a national or international soloist at each concert.

The Preacher Men - Music for blueshorn

Saturday - February 15th 
MUSIC - Ripping saxophone wails, gritty, deep-grooving Hammond organ, and back beats that make sitting still almost impossible. The Preacher Men is one of the most well-known Jazz/Blues formations in the Netherlands. In 2019, they won the Edison Public Award. In a surprising program with new music, they tell musical stories about the blues and introduce an instrument with particularly expressive possibilities: the Blueshorn.

Saturday - March 1st 
PHYSICAL THEATRE - Fasten your seatbelt, there’s no estimated time of arrival. Expect a surreal physical performance about being stuck in the "in-between." The feeling of an eternal transit zone at an airport where no plane ever arrives or departs. While you wait for help, with your suitcase in hand, your body starts to tremble as if there's an earthquake inside you. No help is on the way. You’re completely on your own. Advice? Enjoy it, because there's still a long way to go.

DANCE | It’s time to let go of all the balls. BALLEN LOS is an ode to femininity and the power of vulnerability. Women are expected to balance motherhood, career, beauty, and more— it's never good enough. We strive for success while juggling countless responsibilities, convinced that failure isn’t an option. But how long can we keep this up? What happens when we stop meeting expectations and start breaking free? This dance performance features four powerful women and the serene voice of Oukje den Hollander.
